ESR8: Koldo Trápaga Monchet

I got my degree in History (2009) at the Universidad de Deusto (Bilbao, Spain). The next year I moved to Madrid where I studied the Master Interuniversitario de Historia Moderna “Monarquía de España” at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. In October 2010, I presented my Master’s Thesis Los secretarios y escribanos de cámara durante el reinado de Felipe IV with the highest mark directed by José Martínez Millán. From September of it year, I had a grant in the research project “Las contradicciones de la Monarquía Católica: entre la razón de estado y la obediencia a Roma (1621-1665)” directed by José Martínez Millán.

I am currently developing my PhD about the households of don Juan José de Austria and the political reconfiguration of the Catholic Monarchy (1642-1679) copromoted by Prof. Dr. José Martínez Millán  (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid-IULCE) and Profª. Dra. Ana Crespo Solana (Centro Superior de Investigaciones Científicas-IULCE) inside the Instituto Universitario “La Corte en Europa” at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

My principal lines of research are don Juan de Austria, Court studies, Royald Household, Catholic Monarchy

I am membership of the I+D+I research projects:

  • “La crisis del modelo cortesano: del sistema de corte al paradigma estatal”, directed by Manuel Rivero Rodríguez from 2013 (ref.: CEMU-2013-06)
  • “La reconfiguración de la Monarquía Católica (1640-1700). El final de la monarquía hispana de los Austria”, directed by José Martínez Millán from 2012 to now on (ref.: HAR2012-37308-C05-01)
  • “Sólo Madrid es Corte. La construcción de la corte de la Monarquía Católica” director by José Martínez Millán between 2010-2011.
  • “Las contradicciones de la Monarquía Católica: la corte de Felipe IV (1621-1665), directed by José Martínez Millán from 2010 until 2013 (HAR2009-12614-C04-01)

In this years I developed my PhD also in I+D+I research centers all of them with a research grant:

  • New York (United States of Amberica), at New York University (March 2014) directed by Lia Schwartz
  • Gent (Belgium), at Gent University (April-July 2013) under the direction of René Vermeir.
  • Palermo (Italy), at Università degli Studi di Palermo (March-June 2012) under the direction of Rosella Cancila.
  • Naples (Italy), at Università degli Studi di Salerno (September-November 2011) directed by Aurelio Musi.
